Custom - Base for Singer 15-91, 201

Custom - Base for Singer 15-91 - Display Stand

If you own a Singer 15-91, it probably didn't come with a case or a cabinet.  It is almost impossible to use without one.  I decided to make a decorative and functional base for my Singer 15-91.

Once I figured out the dimensions, it was just as easy to make two... so I did.

Kept one for me and sold one on ebay.

Hope you enjoyed this idea.

ps... If you are interested in one of these for yourself, let me know and I'll get back to you with pricing.

  1. Have you thought of making a base for the Singer 99K?

  2. Hi Grimm,

I'd only need the dimensions of the base. I did have a 99K, but I didn't take the dimensions before I sold it.

  3. Hi there! I'd love one exactly as pictured. That stain looks terrific with the machine.

I bought my Centenial 15-91 a couple of days ago; it should arrive next week. Shall I wait and measure it when it arrives, or are you confident that all 15-91s are the same size?

I've noticed that some other bases (on eBay) have hardware attached to hold the machine down. Do you think this is necessary?

I'm redcaps123 on eBay, btw. Thanks!

  4. Hi Kiimba,

Thanks and congratulations on the purchase of the 15-91. I love mine.

The 15-91 was mass produced and sizes had to be standardized for the many cases and tables that were made for them. I've got the size for the 15-91.

The hardware allows the machine to be tilted back to facilitate oiling under the bed of the machine. In a larger case or table, this is an advantage, however in a small display base (which I use for day to day sewing, tilting the machine back would tip the base over as well. For this reason, I didn't include the hardware in this design and it makes the base a little sleeker.

I can make one with the pictured stain or, as an option, I like the ebonized (black stain) finish. You can see the one I made for myself in the background of the photos in this post. The price is $90 plus shipping.

Let me know and thanks again for your comment.

  5. Michael, hi!

I came across your post in a Google search for a 15-91 base. Any chance you could make another? If so, could you contact me at info@verymerryseamstress.com ? Thanks!
